Why Use Youtube to Market your Business?

Thursday, March 10th, 2011

As the second most used search engine in the world, and as the top video sharing site, YouTube is perhaps one of the most important marketing tools you have at your disposal. If you do not have a YouTube channel set up for your business to promote your products and services, you are missing out on potentially millions of people who will never see your message. If you are yet unconvinced by the effectiveness of this website in your marketing campaigns, consider these statistics:

  • Every day, two billions videos are viewed by people all over the world.
  • Every minute, an average of 24 hours of video is uploaded to YouTube.
  • In just two months, more video is uploaded to YouTube in terms of hours than was broadcast on CBS, NBC, and ABC combined in the last 60 years!

Now, while these numbers may impress you, you may ask yourself, “How can one of my videos compete against other clips that are destined to go viral?” There are several free tricks you can use to gain traffic for your videos and in turn drive traffic to your point of sale. You can embed videos on your website or blog, and create links from social networks like Facebook and Twitter to raise awareness of your campaigns.

2011 Growing Online Trends

Friday, March 4th, 2011

The trend towards online marketing has seen enormous growth in the past few years. The social media landscape has forever been changed by the success of sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Most major retailers maintain a presence on both of these social networking sites but in 2011 the mission must be to continue to define how these sites can work to increase sales revenue.

While most companies jumped on board rather quickly and established connections with their customer base through the use of social networking sites, many have now also leveraged their presence into a marketing asset, building brand loyalty with such things as offering deals to online followers, gathering feedback and monitoring trends. The beauty of social networking from a retailer’s point of view is that your audience has done the work for you. In essence they have already defined themselves as having an interest in your products and services. Now the big question is what can a company do with this already established audience? Beyond capturing their attention the task must be to engage them in such a way as to inspire them to buy more products or services.

Mobile Marketing

The popularity of the iPhone and subsequent smart phones has made it possible for companies to reach their customer base just about anywhere. No longer do marketing campaigns have to wait for the potential customer to discover their ads. The ads can be delivered directly to the customer no matter where he or she is located. The growth is this medium is expected to continue with mobile websites, email and apps becoming more prevalent as marketing tools.

Personalized ads based on previous search terms

Remember in the early days of the internet when you revisited a favourite website and it welcomed you back by name. The technology that makes that possible is called a cookie, a cookie is a bit of code placed in your computer that is later read by the browser. The earliest cookies were somewhat crude, but they have evolved over the years and now can perform user profiling, tracking and modelling which is used to maximize the effectiveness of advertising. Google employs this technique to try and serve users ads that match their browsing history, page viewing, and ad clicks. This technology is also now being introduced for mobile devices and social media sites.

Search Engine Optimization will be more important than ever

SEO tactics will become more complex as other search engines become more competitive. The formula for one search engine does not necessarily work for others, therefore companies that want to remain at the top of search results, where they get the most visibility, will have to figure out new optimization strategies to maximize their SEO techniques. Overall the online marketing budgets for companies will continue to increase for anyone who wants to remain competitive in the next few years.

How to Upload your video to Facebook

Monday, February 28th, 2011

Before you even try to upload a video to Facebook, save it to your PC with a common name, something that’s easy to remember, and not a bunch of random digits. You’ll save yourself time in the next step. Facebook supports the typical video formats – mov (Quicktime), avi, wmv (Windows Media) – and many, many more.

Sign in to your Facebook home page. At the top of the page, click “Profile” to get to your unique wall. Then click on the tab “Video.” If you don’t see a video, tab, click the plus sign (+) and then add “video.”

Click on “+ Upload.” The uploaded videos can be accessed here, just like a video photo album.

Click “Browse” and locate file on your computer (because of the name, you should easily find it.) After you find it, select it, and click “open.” The upload will begin shortly.

It may take some minutes to fully upload and be viewable to others. There is a box you can check that will inform Facebook to let you know when the video is ready to be viewed. While you’re waiting for the video to upload to Facebook, you can enter information about the video, like the title and any comments you may have. When it’s finished uploading, it’ll be on your wall and the home page for all of your friends to see (and friends of friends if your privacy settings allow.)

Testimonials are for people who earned them. Fake testimonials are always a bad idea! People are smarter then you think. People have a very good lie detector. Earn it by doing people right! Do good at whatever it is that you do. After a person that you did something for likes what you did ask for a testimonial from them!

I just want to give you some tips of how to form what to say in the video:

Set up the story.

…I had problems with {fill in}. The more detailed the better.

Then set up how they found you.

…How others can find you.

Then set up the solution, you.

…Whatever you did to help them is the solution. However you solved there problem is the solution. Not just facts but make it personal! Make it relatable.

“He really gave me my life back!” type of thing.

Make it 100% real and NOT fake! People know fake! Make everything real and true! You will lose everything if people found out that you faked a testimonials! Let your person who is doing the testimonial have fun with it!

How to get video testimonials:

Post a way you can write one on your website

Ask
Do great work
And Earn it!
You will be surprised how many people would love to give you a testimonial! If you do great work, people will ask you to give you their testimonial. Make sure you give back, if someone gave you a testimonial, Link to their website, give them something, and make sure they feel good doing it!

Marketing With Video

Sunday, January 3rd, 2010

Feel like your current marketing strategy isn’t giving you the ROI you had hoped for? Perhaps your marketing collateral seems to have lost it’s luster, and you think it’s time to move on to something new. You’re aware that a re-branding campaign can be a very time consuming, and budget devouring prospect but you’re running out of ideas. There may be one you haven’t considered till now… at least, not seriously.

Corporate video production deserves a second look. A creatively produced corporate video can place a new spin on, and even compliment, existing marketing collateral. What’s more, it can be targeted to capture the attention of a very specific audience, or broadened to a much wider demographic, depending on the need. Though there are countless ways in which corporate video production can be employed, here are a few worth considering:

Corporate Image Building- Consumers form opinions about companies every day for any number of reasons, ranging from personal experience to word of mouth to positive (and negative) media. With Video, you have a powerful tool at your disposal to help influence those opinions in a direction that is favorable to your core values, as well as your bottom line. It puts you in the driver’s seat. Corporate video production is a dynamic tool that has been shown to produce up to +70% retention rate over print and radio.

Brand Films and Storytelling- Every organization has a story to tell, and corporate video production is an excellent vehicle to get that story across. People identify with the struggle involved with building something from nothing more than an idea. Your History, product development, or impact on your given market are all things that your target audience will be interested in. This approach gives you many minutes of creative, uninterrupted videologue, designed to win-over your audience to your brand identity, core values, and culture of excellence.

Investor Presentations – Put an innovative spin on your communications to investors that is suitable for formal presentation venues, meetings, or web publications. Don’t bore your investors to tears will more of the same old graphs and pie charts, accompanied by the drone of industry monologue (the same ones, by the way, your competitors might be using.) These people are giving their time, attention, and most importantly their capital resources in return for assurance that they are backing the right business plan. A professionally crafted video presentation can leave an indelible mark in the minds of your investors, and help keep then on your team for the long haul.

Customer Testimonials- Your prospective customers are sizing you up, looking for a product, and a company behind the product, that they can trust. A very affective approach to winning new customers has been letting people who have already been through that process tell their story, and what lead them to the decision to choose you. Even better, let them tell your prospects why they are convinced they made the right choice!

Production Process Overviews- On a more technical note, this style of corporate video production works well within a B to B setting. Show prospective buyers how your system works. Let them experience the sight and sound real features at work that are larger than life… while never leaving their seat. Overcome geographical barriers by bring your demonstration right to them.
